Thank you to Paul and Char Fruland for donating a printer for Patrick’s office. Your donation is appreciated.

VBS starts tomorrow at 9:00 am. Remember to pray for the Team, the leaders, and the students.

Let’s pray this week for the persecuted Christians in Bangladesh. Freedom of religion is supposedly guaranteed, but increasing Islamics are anti-Christian. Birth certificates are denied in one area as legal status is removed from families. Churches are closing and few Christians feel safe worshipping publicly. Pray that Christ’s love would flood Bangladesh.

AFLBS Timothy Team

Please pray for the members of the Timothy Team, Cassie Fugleburg, Laura Satren, Ryan Fosland, and Owen Parsley as they work with our VBS students and leaders.

Thank you to Shirley and Alan Love for keeping the team in their home this week. We need people to provide lunches and suppers this week. If you can provide a lunch or supper, please contact the church. These kids are giving up their summer to teach the Gospel. Let’s support them and show them how much we appreciate their ministry.

Come now, you who say,
"Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit" -
yet you do not know what tomorrow
will bring. What is your life?
For you are a mist that appears
for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say,
"If the Lord wills, we will live
and do this or that."
As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

James 4:13-17

Prayer Connection —June 15, 2008

"Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, and pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should." (Ephesians 6:17-20) The prayers of believers are empowered by God through our salvation and the Holy Spirit. Spurgeon says, "If you want that splendid power in prayer, you must remain in loving, living, lasting, conscious, practical, abiding union with the Lord Jesus Christ." Because we are praying to the omnipotent God, our prayers will also be omnipotent! Never underestimate the power of prayer; it is as huge as our God. "Jesus replied, `I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, `Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." (Matthew 21:21-22) Prayer plumes the wings of God's young eaglets so that they may learn to mount above the clouds. Prayer brings inner strength to God's warriors and sends them forth to spiritual battle with their muscles firm and their armor in place." (Spurgeon)

Our Heavenly Father,
You have taught us to pray. May we always begin each plea with praise and thanksgiving. Thank You for Your waiting ear and willingness to hear each utterance and groan. Thank You that what David said is true, that, "Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear me." Lord, teach us how to live that our very lives will become a constant prayer. As each thought is formed in our minds, let our hearts form a prayer over it. Thank You Lord, for the sweet communion that we receive when we are in prayer with You. And thank You for teaching us the most precious prayer, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, for ever and ever. We pray in the name of Christ Jesus our Lord and King.  Amen

"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God." (Philippians 1:9-11) "Before a word of petition is offered, we should have the definite and vivid consciousness that we are talking to God and should believe that He is listening to our petition and is going to grant the thing that we ask of Him. We should look to the Holy Spirit to really lead us into the presence of God and should not be hasty in words until He has actually brought us there." (R. A. Torrey)  Call  me anytime at  schwiesowfam@sbcglobal.net  or 941-4645.  I wish for you a prayer-filled week!
