Based Abstinence Education Grant Will Bring Project Reality Programs to Three
Regions
Project
Reality is proud to announce its acceptance of a three-year grant from the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and
Families (ACF). The ACF awarded $37 million to 63 abstinence
education grantees across the country. The awards, from the
community-Based Abstinence Education (CBAE) program, are designed to encourage
teens to remain abstinent until marriage.
The Year 2003:
Abortion - Access to an Abortion
clinic in Downers Grove, IL on Mondays killed 275 babies. 25 babies were saved. this
total is 44 less children killed in 2003 then 2002.
Orin and Ardith Cooper and
Chuck Brehm of Morris go every Monday early a.m. to offer alternatives to
abortion, such as homes for unwed mothers or Crises pregnancy help, legal help
and adoption help.
Pastor Rick Barnard and Judy
Heifner also from Morris go on Thursday mornings also providing the same help,
no statistic available for their efforts.
In November 4 abortion clinics
closed in California, Texas, Michigan and downtown Chicago. Praise The Lord
Arizona to abortionist, Brian
Finkel was convicted on 22 counts of sexually abusing his customers which dated
as long as 17 years ago. The same jury found him not guilty on 34 additional
counts. The Phoenix based abortionist claims to have committed more than 30,000
abortions.

According to Census Bureau data from June 2002 survey, 26.7 million women aged
15 to 44 are childless, a record number. They represent nearly 44 percent of
women in that age group. Pro-life leaders says the numbers points to a
"birth dearth" rather than the population explosion advocates of
population control say is happening. The number of women 15 to 44 forgoing or
putting off motherhood has nearly doubled since 1990. The latest numbers reflect
the well-established trend of more women going to college and entering the work
force.

MEDICAL GROUP FAVORS DISCLOSURE OF ABORTION-BREAST CANCER LINK
The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer
cheered news that the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS)
favors disclosing to patients a "highly plausible" relationship
between abortion and increased risk of breast cancer. AAPS executive
director Jane Orient, MD said:
"The AAPS believes that patients
have the right to give or withhold fully informed consent before undergoing
medical treatment. This includes notification of potential adverse effects.
While there is a difference of medical opinion concerning the abortion-breast
cancer link, there is a considerable volume of evidence supporting this link,
which is, moreover, highly plausible. We believe that a reasonable person would
want to be informed of the existence of this evidence before making her
decision."
Karen Malec, president of the coalition,
remarked that "The coalition is grateful to the AAPS for taking a
pro-information position on the ABC research. Women have a right to be
autonomous, especially when it comes to life or death choices.
Mrs. Malec continued, "We encourage
all medical groups and the cancer establishment to take a pro-information stand.
In particular, we challenge the National Cancer Institute, the American Medical
Association, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to
discontinue their pro-censorship practices by offering women an honest
evaluation of the research. Censorship has contributed to a public health
catastrophe in the U.S."
Research published in the Journal of the
American Medical Association in 1996 reported a 23% risk elevation among
American women procuring abortions. Significantly, Newcomb et al. found that
relative risk increased with age at diagnosis. [1]
Mrs. Malec published an article in the
Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons during the summer, "The
Abortion-Breast Cancer Link: How Politics Trumped Science and Informed
Consent." She discussed widespread scientific misconduct and efforts
to conceal the research during the last half century. [2]
Five medical groups say that abortion is
one of the causes of breast cancer. [3]
The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer

Senate Overwhelmingly Approves Born Alive Bill

Madison, WI (LifeNews.com) -- The Wisconsin
Senate overwhelmingly passed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, with a vote
of 31-1.
The Act, AB 372, which protects infants
born alive after botched abortions, had passed in the state Assembly
unanimously. The bill will now be presented to pro-abortion Governor Jim Doyle
(D), who has not indicated whether he will sign the bill.
"We hope that Governor Doyle will
extend the tremendous bipartisan support for the Born Alive Infant Protection
Act by immediately signing this measure into law," Barbara Lyons, Executive
Director for Wisconsin Right to Life, said in a statement following the vote.
"A baby born alive following an abortion is entitled to the same legal
rights and protections as any other infant born alive."
The term "born alive" is defined
as being completely extracted from a mother's womb and taking a breath, having a
heart beat or moving voluntary muscles. The bill was authored by Rep. Mark
Gundrum (R-New Berlin) and Sen. Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin).
"This legislation draws a bright line
between abortion and infanticide," said Susan Armacost, Legislative
Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. "Once the baby is completely removed
from the mother's body, the pregnancy has been terminated. Roe v. Wade did not
grant a right to a dead baby."
"There is widespread agreement that
these tiny abortion survivors should not be subjected to the outrageous
atrocities that have been inflicted on so many of them," concluded Armacost.
During the joint public hearing on the
legislation, medical personnel detailed numerous atrocities inflicted on babies
who had survived abortion, including leaving the babies to starve and die with
no comfort or care prior to their deaths.
More than 30 states have similar pro-life
laws, and President George W. Bush signed a bill protecting babies on the
federal level.
However, the federal version of the law
deals only with federal statues and regulations, so Wisconsin and other states
must pass their own versions to handle cases dealing with state regulations.

Parental Notification of Abortion House Bill

Illinois needs the same law
many neighboring states have. The
law would require parental notification before a minor girl proceeds with an
abortion. Illinois had become a dumping ground for abortions. Any girl from any state can come to Illinois without parental
permission or knowledge for an abortion. While abortion rates in most states are
on the decrease, the rate in Illinois is increasing.
When a 16 year old girl
didn’t show up for school her mother was called.
After talking to her friends they found that she had gone to the Hope
Clinic in Granite City, Illinois for an abortion.
The mother rushed to the clinic to get her daughter but when she got
there the clinic workers would not let her in.
She could not see her minor 16 year old daughter.
A Pro-life lady who is a longtime street counselor tried to help the
mother by calling the Chief of Police. He came, said he felt bad because he has
a 16 year old daughter himself, but legally he could do nothing.
The minor girl has her rights. The parents have no rights when abortion
is the issue unless, of course, she is injured during an abortion.
Then the parents would get the hospital bill!
The girl had her abortion
without knowing that her mother was outside trying to save her from a life of
regret and (very possibly) physical and mental problems.
Hope (Hopeless) Clinic
performs 50 abortions on Saturdays and a total of 225-240 abortions a week.
The clinic is across the street from Gateway Medical hospital.
The abortionists kill babies in the mornings then go across the street to
deliver babies in the afternoons! SICK!
Hope Clinic was closed on
Saturday, April 13th, this year after 27 years of killing babies.
They heard Pastor Flip Benham and a large group of Pro-life Christians
would be praying, picketing, and counseling abortion-bound women.
What a joyous occasion for the Pro-lifers the day the clinic closed.
Especially delighted were those who regularly stood outside the clinic
offering an alternative to those arriving for abortions.

NEWS
We have some good news, The US
Ambassador to the United Nations ECOSOC (Economic and Social Committee), at the
recent United Nations Population meeting in New York, came out very clear and
strong. He refused to give an inch
on “Reproductive Health Services” because it could and
would be interpreted as promoting the legislation and expansion of
abortion in nations where it currently does not exist or is restricted.
He also insisted that sexual
abstinence was the most effective way of insuring adolescent health and
preventing the spread of aids.
Score one for the good
guys!! In the UN world of politically correct and moral
psycho-babble, US Ambassador to ECOSOC, Sichan Siv, made the clearest stand on
US policy on international “reproductive issues” since the Reagan
administration. We are elated that
the Bush administration has stepped up to the plate and, in this case, hit the
ball out of the park. Mr Siv was so
unequivocal and clear that he drew the outrage from many pro-death countries,
especially the Europeans who are always the first to respond on these issues.
This issue was specifically
presented to President Bush in the early days of his campaign not only as a
pro-life question, but also as a foreign relations issue.
His response has been an answer to prayer.

clear position now gives us and other pro-life groups the ability to police US
health funds that are being spent abroad especially where International Planned
Parenthood’s hand is stretched out.
The UN Child Summit, that
begins on May 6th, promises to be intense in light of the US’s
recent strong stand and the pro-abortion group’s euphoria over Earth Day
(worship of Mother Earth). This
will be the final meeting of a series where the abortion crowd has been pushing
for “Reproductive Health Services” for children.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD’S
TACTICS: Almost Anything for a Buck
“Why is it that Planned
Parenthood insists on gorging itself at the public trough?” asked Jim Sedlak,
president of ALL’s STOPP International division.
“Clearly, Planned Parenthood (PP) doesn’t need any taxpayer money.”
Sedlak said over the last
two years PP has pocketed over $185 million in profit.
“At the same time, elected officials gave this organization $363
million in hard-earned taxpayer money.”
PP marketing efforts read
like a textbook on how to make money from sex, Sedlak said.
“First it was condoms packaged like lollipops.
Then it was the introduction of the ‘Joe Sperm’ mascot, complete with
sunglasses, in parades and on advertisements.”
After the September 11
terrorist attacks, PP offered free abortions in New York City and
red-white-and-blue condoms in Virginia. “PP
has been selling sex and making money,” said Sedlak.
‘UNBORN’ NOW ELIGIBLE FOR HEALTH
INSURANCE
A decision by the US
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in January has caused quite a stir
among pro-life and pro-choice advocates alike.
HSS Secretary Tommy Thompson
announced that health insurance benefits will be extended to pregnant women,
thereby designating fetuses as “unborn children.”
Under this new classification, pregnant women will be able to receive
care under their state’s version of the Children’s Health Insurance Program,
originally intended for “born” children only.
Much has been written on
both sides of this issue, with pro-life supporters expressing pleasure at the
government’s action, while abortion proponents bristle.
A Fox News article quotes Laurie Rubiner of the National Partnership for
Women and Families as saying, “I just have to believe their hidden agenda is
to extend personhood to a fetus.”
Secretary Thompson, in a USA
Today article, answered the criticisms by stating that “federal policy has
previously expressly allowed welfare and Medicaid coverage for not-yet-born
children.”

2005 newsletter -After months of demands to include language that would
create a broad international right to abortion, pro-aborts were disappointed
with the final document issued by UN Member States at the Millennium Development
Summit. Everyone from Kofi Amman, to special UN commissions, to
non-governmental organizations, to UN member states, whined continually that the
new document must contain far reaching ratification of reproductive rights (abortion)
language. They have failed. There is only one mention of
reproductive health in the entire document!
UKRAINE
Life Coalition International - Sept 2005
newsletter - The National Academy of Sciences in the Ukraine has come under
fire from human rights activists for suspected trafficking in fetal and infant
body parts. The Academy's Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryo-medicine
advertises a long list of fetal body parts for sale on the internet and human
rights activist Tatyana Zakharova suspects that live newborns are also being
stolen for research purposes. Those responsible are exploiting a loophole
in Ukrainian law which automatically considers babies born before 27 weeks or
weighing under 2 lb 3 oz as abortions rather than births. This means that
babies are not officially registered. The Ukraine is now changing the law
to protect all live births in response to international pressure.
The WHO Admits the "pill" is carcinogenic!

newsletter - In a July 2005 report, the WHO (World Health Organization_
reported that both HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy_ and combined estrogen-progestogen
contraceptives (the Pill and the Morning After Pill/Plan B) are carcinogenic (causing
cancer). The American press reported this and other findings as only
concerning HRT and doctors took their patients off the medication. At the
same time there is an effort to make plan B available without
prescription. What part of carcinogenic do they not understand? Are
they so anxious to kill babies that they are willing to kill mothers too?
A Victory in the Senate
It's taken Congressman Chris
Smith (R-NJ) four years to secure a Senate vote for his bill promoting umbilical
cord blood stem cell therapies.
Persistence paid off at 8:00 p.m.
Friday, December 16th, with a stunning victory in the U.S. Senate...a victory
for Cong. Smith but also a victory for the cause of Life ...and, for thousands
of Americans, a literal victory for their own lives.
Life Advocacy actively backed the
Smith bill, asking readers of weekly Life Advocacy Briefing to
contact Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid to urge that he release the hold
Senate Liberals had placed on the bill. Sen. Reid and others - notably
Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) - were insisting that a vote on the non-controversial
Cord Blood bill be delayed until votes could be held on such pro-cloning
alternatives as the House-passed bill to gut President Bush's policy barring tax
funds for killing human embryos to experiment on their stem cells.
Delay on the Smith bill meant
suffering and in some cases even death for thousands of Americans fighting
leukemia, sickle-cell anemia and some 65 other serious diseases which today can
be helped or even cured via cord blood stem cells. For many diseases and
injuries, cord blood cells are the "magic bullet" scientists claim to
still be seeking.
The problem has been that too few
Americans know about the wonder of cord blood cells, hence very few mothers know
that they should donate their babies' umbilical cord blood upon delivery.
And no effective mechanism exists to match donated cells with patients who need
them. Those are the problems the Cord Blood law is designed to
overcome...by promoting cord blood donation and establishing a network of cord
blood cell banks.
It should have been a no-brainer,
but Senate liberals, appeasing their pals in the biotech lobby demanded a date
certain for their vote promoting cloning and embryo experimentation and a
guarantee of no amendments to their own lethal proposal...two pledges Senate
Majority Leader Bill Frist could not make. After a long debate, in which
the liberals looked very like grinches in the run-up to Christmas, Sen. Frist
tried once more to call the Smith bill for a vote; no one objected, the bill was
passed, the House hastily agreed to minor Senate changes, and five days later
Mr. Smith went to the White House to witness the signing of his bill into law. -

CWA Applauds Scheidler
Victory Against NOW
Washington, D.C. - Concerned
Women for America (CWA) applauds the Supreme Court decision in the case of NOW
v. Scheidler, which ruled that peaceful demonstrations outside of abortion
clinics could not be deemed extortion. Joseph Schiedler and other pro-life
demonstrators were exonerated of all allegations after today's 8-0 ruling.
"Thank God the U.S. Supreme
Court smacked down - again - NOW and abortion clinics' blind pursuit to crush
pro-life protesters and, in the process, demolish all Americans' First Amendment
rights," said Wendy Wright, CWA President. "CWA is proud to have
stood with Joe Scheidler, Timothy Murphy, Operation Rescue and other defendants
to protect free speech for all.
"Thousands of women changed
their minds and chose life rather than abortion because of what they learned
from pro-life protesters at abortion clinics. The Supreme Court looked at
the legalities of the case, ruling unanimously for the pro-lifers. For
these women, though, this ruling has greater meaning: The Court will not
unjustly punish those who helped save their children's lives."
Contrary to the losing parties'
allegations, the pro-life protests were peaceful. CWA's president Wendy
Wright testified at the trial, providing eyewitness accounts proving that NOW's
witnesses perjured themselves in claiming violence occurred.
After over 19 years of battling
in the courts, this victory is long overdue. CWA filed two amicus
briefs in this case, presenting key arguments with the Supreme Court affirmed.
